As the name so adequately points out, EventSentry focuses on events – like for example when someone tries to logon by provides the wrong password; or when a service has failed; or when CPU usage skyrockets. In these situations you need to know something isn’t right so you can take action and address the problem. That is what Even Sentry does. It alerts you that something is up.

What you need to know about the internet is that information rich as it is, it is also the place where lots of people with malicious intent lurk about. To protect yourself and your computer you need to get a genuine, properly good security software application. EventSentry is a proactive, real-time monitoring solution that falls in the category of security-related software applications. Thanks to its numerous features and modular design it can deal with all sorts of scenarios, including compliance, health monitoring and troubleshooting.

You see, there are some bits and pieces that you cannot ignore if you are in the network security business. You have to set up firewall and proxies for perimeter security, you have to deal with backups and redundant systems, and you have to go though packet analysis and system logs (monitoring). For the last bit, the monitoring one, you might want to give EventSentry a try.

A tool like EventSentry is of invaluable help to a network administrator. If money is a problem, you could use the free version (EventSentry Light) for single-system monitoring. You can use the free version for as long as you want as there is no time limitation. The catch is that it is not as feature rich as the paid version. The complete package, even if it costs money, comes with powerful features that allow any admin to monitor an entire network. So investing in the full package will pay off.

Pros

  • Numerous features that make it a great tool for network admins
  • Very affordable
  • Excellent technical support and documentation

Cons

  • Nothing I could think of
